OUR JOURNEY

Beeswax, honey and bees hold a really special place in my heart.  My late Grandfather was a hobby apiarist and I have very distinct memories of his beehives, his bee shed and the very strong aroma of the honey that was set up, filtering in his laundry.  This is where the love started and here, today, is where it continues to grow.  Bees are such an important and special creature, our very existence coupled with their existence & the huge role they play in the world.

I have such heartfelt reverence and gratitude for beeswax.  I am in awe of bees and their ability to create such a resource- it really is so special.  For me, making candles is more than the finished product, more than burning for the sake of burning and more than a carefully orchestrated photo for social media.  I have respect for the wax, in every part of the candle making and every time I light a beeswax candle, it is part of my spiritual practice.  And that's not to say that I only light candles when I'm in meditation; it means that every time I strike a match and hold it to the wick I am doing so with mindfulness, gratitude and intention- as it so rightly deserves.

Wik & Ware came about after the birth of my first child in which I became acutely aware of the products I was using in my baby's environment.  The desire to make our home as safe for them and their health as possible led to a big change within our household and I then began the exploration of making my own products naturally.  When I started experimenting with making beeswax candles, it was the heavenly sweet aroma that brought me back to the memory of my Grandfather.  And thus, that heart connection bringing me to one of my greatest joys- beeswax candles.

I've been making candles for the good part of 8 years.  It has taken many, MANY hours of experimenting and modifying, tweaking and changing to get to this point.  I anticipate that it will always continue to be this way as I go deeper into the craft.  In the meantime,  I am extremely excited & proud to share this true labour of love with you all.  I have so much appreciation and gratitude for your presence here.  Thank you for helping to support me and my business.
